Meeting at the Freedom Theatre’s Temporary Headquarters to Discuss Cooperation on the Tub Cultural Festival… Towards a Sustainable Artistic Platform in the Northern West Bank

Jenin –
The Freedom Theatre Academy for Performing Arts in Jenin hosted a joint meeting between the Freedom Theatre and the Dar Al-Funun wa Al-Turath Theatre and Center in Askar Refugee Camp, Nablus Governorate. This meeting was part of the preparations for the first Tub Cultural Festival, scheduled to take place from December 20-25, 2025, at the Dar Al-Funun wa Al-Turath Theatre.

The meeting discussed the foundations of cooperation between the two institutions and prospects for developing cultural and artistic partnerships in the northern West Bank. It was emphasized that the Tub Festival aims to build a sustainable artistic platform that strengthens the cultural presence in the cities and refugee camps of Jenin, Nablus, and Tulkarm, and provides Palestinian artists with a space to present their theatrical, cinematic, and musical works in a free and open environment. The two sides also discussed the possibility of expanding the festival’s partner and contributor base, in cooperation with the Palestinian Performing Arts Network, the Popular Committee for Refugee Services in Askar Camp, the Askar Youth Club, the New Education Union (NEU), and Project Hope. They also explored ways to involve the Palestinian Ministry of Culture, the Department of Refugee Affairs, and the private sector in supporting and developing the festival as an annual cultural initiative that enriches the artistic landscape in Nablus Governorate.

Participants emphasized that this step represents a new beginning towards establishing ongoing cultural cooperation among Palestinian artistic institutions and activating the role of the arts as a tool for social resistance and the expression of identity and memory. They stressed the importance of supporting this unique cultural activity by official institutions and national companies, considering it an investment in Palestinian awareness and culture.
